T hose zip ties won’t hold long enough for him to get going  quickly enough to die, right?

I’m still a noob when it comes to bikes, so I’m not sure if I’m seeing everything there is to see here. (Missing cotter pin and... are those zip ties?) Please tell me it wasn’t being ridde n like this.

the nuts that hold the sprocket to the flange all fell out, and the zip ties are holding the sprocket over the studs........ and the chain doesnt look like it has ever gotten oiled......

To be fair, those zip ties aren’t bearing any of the drivetrain load here. They’re just holding the sprocket over the flange studs, which are bearing all of that torque  via shear strength. As long as the zip ties are tight (but not under too much strain) and are holding the sprocket on evenly, this could work... but it’s SUPER temporary.

So, he can get himself going fast enough to kill himself. Well, damn.

They may even do  it more than once. That's the real killer... misguided confidence.

Seems weird to be that on-the-ball about cleaning your chain but also think  zip ties are a fine way to attach drivetrain components together.

i laughed way too hard at this.

the chain comment is sarcastic by the way. I would expect to see some legit lube residue on there if its that clean and properly oiled
